I just survived the first half of CNY day 2 and I'm back at home for an hour of rest, no wait make that two. Well, the past few weeks have been occupied with school, P and friends, and multiple visits to the hospital. I have officially stopped partying unnecessarily. It's funny how the thought of it actually brings tears to my eyes (no kidding), that's how much I dread it now. Lately, I have also decided to put away everything and simply focus on my studies. ..and I'll be done with school and all the crazy assignments. But I kinda foresee myself failing one module this sem because I literally dismissed 30% of my grades by not doing an assignment. Argh but whatever, it's a lesson learnt and I shall not be such a sloth next sem. Realllyyyyy, pinky promise.

Okay so Alli will be back on 29th as well, and I'm mega stoked! Finally.. wow time really flies, I can still remember the good times we had in the beginning of the year, and now you're back again for more! Ahh can't wait for your call, I'm so gonna rush down to avenue 10 to see/hug you.

So I have 35 days of break, and I need to really make good use of it. Last year I spent Christmas.. on the plane -.- flying back to Singapore BUT that's not gonna happen this year! Yay, okay so it's another 3 weeks before I leave the country but I am already mentally packing my luggage lol.

This December is gonna be amazing, and it's really happening.. wow. x

I’m 30 years old and I’m trying to figure out most days what being a man means.

I don’t drink fight or love but these days I find myself wanting to do all three, and I don’t really have a favorite color anymore but I did when I was a kid, and back then that color was blue. And back then I wanted to be an astronaut, I wanted to be an architect, an artist, a secret agent, a ranger for the World Wildlife Fund, and a hobo. And when I was six years old I used to always throw my clothes into my blue and yellow plastic vinyl Hot Wheels car carrying suitcase, and run away to beneath the dining room table.

I’ve made out with more girls then I wish I’ve had and not nearly as many as I’d like to. I’ve been in love 4 or 5 times so I doubt I’m gonna try that much more often, and I spend most days making pictures or thinking about making pictures, or masturbating or thinking about masturbating.

And I dream too much and I don't write enough and I'm trying to find God everywhere.

And the television it tells me that it’s bare-knuckled bombing, and if I drove a tank or was a movie star, my penis would be huge and that’s what I want because that’s what being a man means or least that’s what they keep telling me.

My Pops, he takes care of us. He puts the garbage out twice a week, he drives forty-five minutes just to water flowers. I’m sitting on a bus when a seven year old boy carrying a book of Robin Hood sits down next to me and asks me my name. Anis. That’s a nice name. Thank you, what’s yours? Quentin. Anis? So tell me what my fists keep writing. My fingers they open like gates when I write and the wind is swinging in the wake. I lift bridges with poems and forests grow in my mother’s eyes. I’m looking for God, Quentin, while this world tries to forget you for trying. For Quentin, this world hates your eyes for they are small and pure. And Quentin, this world hates your fingers — Little like the stems of flowers — for not being able to pick up the things you have left behind simply because you were still learning to do so.

I don’t drink, fight, or fuck but these days, Quentin, it’s only two out of those three that I don’t do. And I’ve fallen in love 6 7 8 9 10 times Quentin, so I don’t want to want to but I still do. And I want to find God in the morning and in the tired hands of dusk, at the mouth of the river and down by its feet. But instead I drive sixty through residential streets praying to hit a child that they may stay forever an angel, stay forever full of night and light and crayons with simple outstretched limbs, trying to pick up way too much way too fast, forgetting what it means to be a person.

In a world where egos are measured with tabloids, where automobiles double for morals, where beliefs are like naps—you leave them behind when somebody touches you— And in a place where oil always takes precedence over life, I find myself sitting on a bus watching a small boy float down like fresh water. Carrying a book that I used to. Asking if I want to see what he sees if only for a little while, and I do. And then asks if I want to give to him what I see if only for a little while, and I read to him.

And then he says to me he is going to show me the world and starts reading me the sentences himself, his hands dancing back and forth, across the pages. Stumbling over words, skipping over lines because his fingers are moving faster then what they are showing his eyes and I want to tell him:

Slow down, Quentin, slow down.

You don’t have to touch and go. You can see it all if your finger whispers on one word. Slow down and hold what you see just a little while longer.

Lately, I haven't been seeing/hanging with my girlfriends. I guess everyone's pretty caught up with school now that exams are just around the corner.. ahh cant wait for all of us to sail through this period and finally meet up in dec!

Anyway last friday was a pretty good one even though E, B and I came to school looking lifeless. It's funny how the three of us are constantly looking/thinking of excuses to postpone our presentations; happens every trimester lol. But this time I was quite determined to just go ahead with it, and we did. We came to school early, and almost ready, but only to realise that we got the timings all wrong and were wayyyy too early. But why oh why am I not at all surprised? So prin came along to find us and we hung out for the next two hours or so. I am really happy that prin is getting to know more of my friends, and it's really nice to see that they can all get along just fine! Can't wait for him to meet G and K! :)

So presentation was a breeze, like surprisingly? We thought we'll probably die midway during Q&A as we watched the other teams being gunned down by the tutor. The previous group took over an hour to wrap up their presentation, making the three of us really impatient and tired. Fyi, we only had 3 hours of sleep the night before. Anyhow our tutor was pretty pleased with our team, he said it was good, and he was smiling away when we were presenting. Wow. You see, we always have pretty low confidence of our work because they tend to be last minute. And apparently for this module, we were the only group with 3 members, others had like 5 to 6? Nobody likes us; we are seen as the outcasts in class although I prefer to think that we are simply on different wavelengths.

After school, E, P and I celebrated over dinner and beer. I felt quite bad making E drink, I can see how much he hates alcohol. I mean I used to, I still do now but only for hard liquor. And yes, I haven't been drinking lately so I was really really red after half a pint, and we were in Paradise Inn where it was brightly lighted. Ahhh imagine all those stares that I received; mega embarrassing. So after dinner, P came over to my place in an attempt to help me out with my essay, due the next day. Yes, we failed and fell asleep so now I am just getting started on it. Oh god I foresee a long night ahead so wish me luck..... x

Halloween 2011

So Halloween night was spent at various places this year. Well, it was actually my first time celebrating the occasion in a costume! Okay, not exactly a costume but a themed outfit? I would call myself a conservative bunny, because unlike the other bunnies out there, I was decently garmented lol. P was dressed as a terrorist (like seriously?) and the rest were in some of the most amusing costumes; the Pope, Katy Perry, a priest, devil, patient, etc. This time, detox really worked as I became really red upon a few glasses of alcohol but thank god I didn't throw up or anything. So we went from Adrian's place to Goodwood Park Hotel to Neverland, and finally to another of P's friend's place. I was talking to Joshie (P's BFF) most of the time and by the end of the day, we became BFFs lol. Anyhow, it was fairly a good night even though we didn't make it to Zouk or Butter. Hmm now that Halloween is over, I'm looking forward very much to Christmas! Oh dec holidays please come soon, a part of me is dying inside everyday as I drown myself in this shitload of assignments ahhhh. x

The Greatest Irony of Love

Loving the right person at the wrong time or having the wrong person when the time is right; finding out you love someone after that person walks out of your life. For some, they think that letting go is one way of expressing how much they love that person. Some are afraid to see the one they love being held by someone else. Most relationships tend to fail not because of the absence of love, but because love is always present. It’s just that one was being loved too much, and the other was being loved too little. Most often, we fall in love with the person we think we love, but to only discover that for them we are just for past times. While the one who truly loves us remains either your friend or a stranger. So here’s a piece of advice; let go when you’re hurting too much, give up when love isn’t enough, and movie on when things are not like before. For surely there is someone out there who will love you even move.

Love is not destroyed by a single failure or won by a single caress. But why is it that the greatest irony of love is letting go when you want to hold on, and holding on when you need to let go? You can never find the right person if you can never let it go of the wrong, but at the same time the moment you feel like letting go, you remember why you held on for so long. Sometimes you have to forget what you want and remember what you deserve.

To love is to risk rejection, to live is to risk dying and to hope is to risk failure. But risk must be taken because the greatest hazard in life is to risk nothing at all. To reach for another is to risk involvement, to expose your feelings is to expose your true self. To love is to risk not being loved in return.

How to define love: Fall but do not stumble. Be constant but not too persistent. Share and never be unfair. Understand and try not to demand. Hurt but never keep the pain.

Love is supposed to be the most wonderful feeling. It should inspire you and give you joy and strength. But sometimes the things that give you joy can also hurt you in the end. Loving people means giving them the freedom; whom they choose to be and where they choose to go. Loving someone means giving them the freedom to find their way, whether it leads towards you or away from you.

Love can be a painful risk. To love means that risk must be taken, no matter how scary or painful, for only then will you experience the fullness of humanity of what we call love. If you’re not ready to cry, if you’re not ready to take the risk and if you’re not ready to feel the pain, then you’re not ready to fall in love.

Now I'm up at this odd hour, thinking if I've made the right choice, thinking if I was or will ever be ready. Sigh.

Wow I realised I havent been blogging at all this month. To be honest, I am quite sick of updating this space. And my assignments are piling up every minute, just because I am becoming the most lazy tard ever. It sickens me how I have turned into such a sloth, sleeping more than ever these days yet it's never enough. BUT I am determined to be extra diligent from today onwards, and for the next two weeks because time isn't exactly on my side. I really have an insane amount to catch up, can't afford to party anymore! With the exception of Halloween, that is.

Anyway, I can't wait to see my princess this saturday, he's been so ill lately yet I am not by his side :( oh well, till we meet on saturday, I'll be waiting by my phone. Miss you silly x.

I can't remember how much I drank last Friday, there seemed to be an infinite source of alcohol as people/friends took turns to buy me a glass. Besides, the concert wasn't exactly impressive (I even considered going to Butter at 2ish?), alcohol was in fact the only thing that made everything interesting. Well, I was only at the free standing area for a while to catch Ludacris and LMFAO, left for the VIP areas shortly to hang. Met friends, and made new ones. I had more drinks while Stephy stopped, and my camera died midway, so did my phone. Befriended a bartender who conveniently handed me another glass, after which I plunged myself at a random table, only to realise I was actually surrounded by familiar faces. So we left the party at 6ish, by that time I was so, so tipsy with all that alcohol in my stomach, all I wanted to do was to crash as soon as I return home. But no, that didn't happen, we got picked up by the royal family of Brunei while waiting for a cab. Eventually, we had breakfast with them at Newton Circus before retreating to their hotel suites at Capella where I spent half the time camping in the toilet, puking. The puking didn't stop at the toilet, we left the hotel shortly and I found myself puking all the way home. Which means, in the cab, at the carpark and right to my doorstep. Got busted by my mom as soon as I got home, but I felt that the thrashing was well deserved. Ahhh swear I'll not touch liquor for the next two weeks or so, and I'll never allow myself to be drunk when I reach home because it just stinks to see the amount of disappointment and anger in the eyes of your parents. In short, I kind of messed up but all's well now. x

Brunch at Marmalade Pantry; English breakfast and eggs benedict. After trying so many breakfast places, I still think that Wild Honey serves the best eggs benny! In fact, I am going to order that later in the day when I meet up with G for brunch.

Fyi, eggs benedict is my favorite breakfast dish. So, let me know if there's a place you have in mind that is excellent for that!

Hey all, I know I've been missing from here for quite a while. Well, school's finally over, and I've been hanging out often enough to neglect this space of mine. Anyway, I'm leaving for Taiwan tomorrow with my best friend, J! It's gonna be my first time travelling with her (and R) and I am mega stoked! Oh, and I found out that Taiwan actually offers quite a good range of outdoor adventures such as hand gliding, surfing, river tracing, bungee jumping, parasailing and the like! So this time there isn't an excuse, I am going for not one but all of them. And I'll make sure J comes along with me haha. Cross fingers that we'll be back in one piece, and no more missing of flights back. I doubt I'll be bringing my laptop over, foresee a very exhausted self every night so I'll update you guys when I'm back. Do watch this space, and so long for now x.

Why Do Twentysomethings Always Feel So Old?

I’m turning 25 next month, which by my estimate, is the oldest I have ever been. And of course I’m freaking out about it and think I’m super old. When in your twenties, it’s your job to feel old. Whether you’re 22 or 28, you just think you’re sooooo old, oh my god, such a grandma and I’m not really sure why this is. Because 25, or any age in your twenties for that matter, isn’t old. In fact, you could argue that any age before 65 is still considered young. By definition, being old would mean reaching senior citizen status, right? That kind of old is unfathomable to us though.

When I was in high school, people in their twenties were seen as ancient. I remember saying things to my friends like, “Oh, he’s really old. Like 24.” I think 24 was perceived to be an old age because their lives were so foreign to us. They graduated college, lived on their own, and held jobs. Those were things that represented an adult life, things we didn’t have and couldn’t have. Of course now I cringe when I think about the fact that I ever considered 24 to be an old age but I’m sure I will feel the same when I turn 35. When that happens, I will look back at this blog entry and think, “Oh, you silly 24-year-old. You thought 25 was old? You were just a baby and you didn’t even know it.”

When do you know it? I’m trying to remember the last time I ever felt young, the last time I ever turned an age that wasn’t accompanied with a sense of dread. I guess it had to be seventeen because it was my last year as a minor. I couldn’t buy cigarettes, couldn’t drink, couldn’t even rent a hotel room. How could I possibly feel old? But after that, it all changed. I remember first feeling uncomfortable about turning 19, which is such a baby age! 19 is I’m a freshman in college and does anyone have a fake ID? It’s laughable to think that I ever could feel old back then, but maybe it’s laughable that I feel old now. When is it no longer ridiculous to feel old? When is it like, “Oh, shoot. Yeah, you’re old. That’s an old age.”

I think the reason why twentysomethings are so fixated on age is because we feel a pressure to be a certain way at 23, at 25, at 29. There are all of these invisible deadlines with our careers and with love and drinking and drugs. I can’t do coke at 25. I need to be in a LTR at 27. I can’t vomit from drinking at 26. I just can’t! We feel so much guilt for essentially acting our age and making mistakes. We’re obsessed with this idea of being domesticated and having our shit together. It’s kind of sad actually because I don’t think we ever fully get a chance to enjoy our youth. We’re so concerned about doing things “the right way” that we lose any sense of pleasure in doing things the wrong way.

Youth may be truly wasted on the young.

As we didn't make it to Zouk on Wednesday (I died, G too!), we went to party last Friday! I was so determined not to drink after puking so much (6 episodes!) on Wednesday, but no, that didn't happen because I ended up ordering a graveyard for myself and a flaming lambo for K. And it didn't just stop there, for I caught myself ordering more (sour plum) shots and drinks throughout the night. What an alcoholic, but whatever I'm giving tomorrow night a miss anyway. Nevertheless, the night was good, always good when I have K and L by my side.

By Saturday, I was so exhausted from the week. Couldn't sleep at all when I got home, and just when I began drifting off a little, it was time to get ready for high tea with my parents. Tiffin Room at Raffles Hotel was rather disappointing, the selection of food was limited even though the ambience made up for it. The only item that I had two servings of was the Bread and Butter pudding, yea that's about it.. At night, I met up with my favorite people from Udders! My choice of restaurant, Boomarang Bistro & Bar! We all went there with the sole purpose of tasting Kangaroo loin, no actually, it was just me. But I made them taste it! And it was good, tasted like beef with texture equivalent to turkey/chicken breast. The rest of the dishes that we ordered were equally commendable. Spent the next few hours at The Central's Starbucks, and by that time I was really really tired/sleepy/moody and heading home was all that I could think of. Though I was stoning more than half the time, I still enjoyed the night with their company. And I'm looking forward to dinner this friday with xuanny and whale, and Ian (uhhh)! Not to mention our August party plans, how exciting!

As for today, presentation was a breeze. Thank God for only a handful of people showed up. Lunch was good with B and E, am beginning to grow closer to the both of them and I really like that feeling! Eph, please get Twitter if you're reading this! Haha, that will be the perfect 21st gift from you to me.

Alright, I guess I'm done sharing my past few days with you all. Hopefully, you've had as much fun as I did. x

Wake me up when the sun sets

Today marks the very beginning of a new month, which also means my favorite month has come to an expected end. I can’t possibly describe how quickly July has passed, but it has definitely challenged the swimming speed of mine. Fyi, I swim pretty fast, much faster than the combined speed of three terrapins but sadly not as good as a single dolphin.

So we bid farewell to the weekend once again, and I feel tired. Extremely, with no forms of exaggeration. I slept Sunday away, and the first half of Monday too. This is quite unlike my usual self, hence I concluded that I am or should be suffering from over-exhaustion. Now, how do I recover from this? I’ve had coffee and cake, but they, like my best friends, attempted to help only to no avail. Rehearsal for tomorrow’s presentation is at 8pm tonight on Skype, it was supposed to take place the previous evening but E and I shared the same amount of exhaustion and called it off. Which reminds me I’ve yet to prepare anything, and it would actually kill me to start now. I need more rest. A pathetic entry as such, took me approximately 15 minutes to complete. I paused at every 5 words, backspaced after 10, only to compose a seemingly meaningless post for the day.

Guess I should stop here, I’ll be back when I am well. Wish me luck, cause I really need some. So long for now x.

Turning 21 wasn’t that bad after all. Thank you to these girls who made it possible. And to the rest who called, texted or/and wrote on my wall, Facebook and Twitter, many thanks. We found one another in secondary school, had one of the best times in our lives during that sick period, attended different schools thereafter, made our own fair share of friends and had our own lives to lead yet at the end of the day, we still managed to find our ways to one another. Since my parents will be out of town till Sunday, I invited G and K over for a sleepover. We partied the night away, from Butter to Zouk and crashed for two hours before heading out again the next day. It was good fun, and this time I escaped a hangover! Heh. It's a pity L was stuck in camp and couldn't join but I guess there's always a next week.. In the meantime, I'll be seeing them over the weekend cos it's their 21st! No special plans, probably just hanging over dinner but we're so close it really doesn't matter if the celebration is just that. As for mine, I absolutely have no plans at all, except for high tea with my parents. Oh god, E just reminded me this afternoon that a party is a must, and that he will hire a stripper for the night.. Wednesday night was pretty darn amazing with G & L. We drank, we sang, we danced and partied the night away as though we just turned 18. Promised to do this over and over again because youth is short, our nights are young and we spent too much time idling at our favorite Starbucks.

July, please be good because only then will I be officially 21 and that scares me more than anything else at the moment. But all I really want is to be forever young. Even though it is impossible for the physical self, I will be at heart or so, hope to be. So till we meet again next Wednesday, it's time for my brains to come out and play. Friday's plans went from Zouk to Butter, because.. Whale, the ultimate DJ Stanley fan girl found out that he was playing for Bump and immediately texted everyone suggesting the change of venue. And she made the right choice (of course), cos last friday night was DOPE. The music was gooddddd, we had a constant supply of alcohol (fed by random strangers= free!!), and best of all, we weren't like solid molecules vibrating about a fixed position (we'll probably end up like that if we were to be at Zouk)!! Everyone had a blast; we were literally grinning from ear to ear throughout the entire night lol. And when the club was near closing, the girls were fed some Belverdere and omg I went from sober to gone... End.

No la, I just got a little high and was blabbering endlessly I think? Aye but it was really, one of the best nights EVER. Sadly, whale is leaving for Korea on Tuesday and will only be back three weeks later! Looking forward to her return and more Buttery days w/ her and xuan! I'm not sure if the boys enjoyed themselves as much cos 1) they aren't DJ Stanley fans, 2) they were not fed with free alcohol throughout the night and, 3) we were up on the stage/podium most of the time (next to Stanley :D) while the guys remained on the dance floor. But oh well, the girls sure had a blast!!

Haha we had stickers on our cheeks to express our support for him. Take note of the amount of stickers whale had all over herself, it's insane!!

Kit, the bartender whom entertained my complaints of not having enough alcohol in our jugs haha. He said something like, "you think I charity ah?" when I requested for more alcohol for our second jug lol. But obviously he did as we requested else this picture wouldn't have existed..

Many a time, I catch myself saving multiple pictures of a single theme. My fingers somehow work faster than my mind; they become practically uncontrollable as if they have found their ways into a packet of kettle chips. It's frighteningly addictive and unhealthy but whatever, here are just some from this morning.

Sigh, my 21st is just around the corner and I have freakin' no (ZERO) idea as to how I want my celebration to be. I don't want a massive party because I feel awkward whenever I attend one, when groups of friends are foreign to one another, and the thought of being in the limelight just scares me even more. As far as imagination goes, I would love to spend my birthday sky diving and bungee jumping. That's exactly what I want, it's ideal isn't it? And probably when the night falls, I'll have dinner with my closest bunch, with wine and berries, meat and desserts. I'll have an apple crumble as my cake, and please, no stage. BUT that's not gonna to happen because 1) I cannot leave Singapore during that time; it's the deadline/crucial period for school, and 2) not everyone can just leave the country upon my request. I'll probably end up alone eventually, wth.

So, how now brown cow? Any suggestions? :(

Weekend visuals

Last Friday night I was at Clark Quay with Leo & K. Obviously, the highlight of the night was GMAX! Like finally, I managed to get people who are cool/steady/willing enough to get on with me. Took me two entire years for this to happen (had to deal with lame excuses/postpones time and time again), but it was worth it! Extra love for you two!!

And then Saturday night was spent with my Udders pals, another incredible dining/chilling session. Thoroughly enjoyed myself, especially during the later part of the day when it's down to Whale and TB. Got dizzy from shisha but it was great fun, talked throughout the night with W regarding boy issues and laughed about how much we fantasize about the future when we are apparently Single and Damaged. Lol.

On Sunday, I had brunch with my childhood besties; friends whom I've known for more than a decade! It's amazing how close we still are; am truly blessed to have such amazing girlfriends :) Dinner with Ephram and Ash, overdosed on caffeine that night when we hopped about coffee chains. But it was good fun!

I must say this is one of the best weekends of 2011, even though some of my closest friends are not part of it. But I'll make damn sure that we'll hang out real soon alright, be sure to make time for ME! x

Hello, again. How was your Tuesday? Mine was pretty ordinary with two hours of school and many hours of bumming. Okay, I am making myself sound like I have the most boring life but it is true to an extent! The next few days will see me stuck at home, working on another essay due on Friday evening. And just when my school break is taking place next week, I have another two essays to work on cause they are due the week after! Ahhh, life sucks with school. I am severely depressed. Plus I havent been the most hardworking kid in class, not ever.

Anyway I am not gonna carry on spilling another 300 words on how depressing school is, or rather my life is because it isn't going to make things better. With that, I am heading off for dinner! You guys have a great week ahead while I slog away.. x

They say girls think or/and worry too much. Guys, on the other hand, simply don’t care. They don’t give a damn about consequences, about the future.. they live in the present and give little thoughts about their future. Well, at least not as much as we do. So here I am on this topic, because I am pondering again. On a Monday night when everyone has retreated to their own chamber, whereas I am left in the largest room to wonder on my own. I hate to admit this but I kinda miss my brother, his presence around the house. He was around this morning, but whenever his girlfriend is with him, I tend to avoid conversations and any eye contact. I feel annoyed, just because of the stranger whom he never fails to show up with.

It’s hard to accept the fact that he has somebody else in his heart. I have always been the one that could easily get his attention, I have always been the one that he’ll consult regarding his choice of clothes, the one that keeps him company through the lonely nights.. but things have changed. It’s different altogether now. He has found replacement, a better one I supposed.

So I guess I have been a jealous sister for the past year and a half, and it’s time to stop whatever I am feeling right now. Perhaps embrace this change and make the best out of it. This is such a challenge, but I’ll try.. I just wish that he’ll be around more often, and I would appreciate that he leaves his puppy in its kennel because I am not her biggest fan, yet.

In case you don’t know, mom misses you as much as I do. x

How to be Alone

If you are at first lonely, be patient.

If you’ve not been alone much, or if when you were, you weren’t okay with it, then just wait. You’ll find it’s fine to be alone once you’re embracing it.

We can start with the acceptable places, the bathroom, the coffee shop, the library, where you can stall and read the paper, where you can get your caffeine fix and sit and stay there. Where you can browse the stacks and smell the books; you’re not supposed to talk much anyway so it’s safe there.

There is also the gym, if you’re shy, you can hang out with yourself and mirrors, you can put headphones in.

Then there’s public transportation, because we all gotta go places.

And there’s prayer and mediation, no one will think less if your hanging with your breath seeking peace and salvation.

Start simple. Things you may have previously avoided based on your avoid being alone principles.

The lunch counter, where you will be surrounded by “chow downers”, employees who only have an hour and their spouses work across town, and they, like you, will be alone.

Resist the urge to hang out with your cell phone.

When you are comfortable with “eat lunch and run”, take yourself out for dinner; a restaurant with linen and Silverware. You’re no less an intriguing a person when you are eating solo desert and cleaning the whip cream from the dish with your finger. In fact, some people at full tables will wish they were where you were.

Go to the movies. Where it’s dark and soothing, alone in your seat amidst a fleeting community.

And then take yourself out dancing, to a club where no one knows you, stand on the outside of the floor until the lights convince you more and more and the music shows you. Dance like no one’s watching because they’re probably not. And if they are, assume it is with best human intentions. The way bodies move genuinely to beats, is after-all, gorgeous and affecting. Dance until you’re sweating. And beads of perspiration remind you of life’s best things. Down your back, like a book of blessings.

Go to the woods alone, and the trees and squirrels will watch for you. Go to an unfamiliar city, roam the streets, they are always statues to talk to, and benches made for sitting gives strangers a shared existence if only for a minute, and these moments can be so uplifting and the conversation you get in by sitting alone on benches, might of never happened had you not been there by yourself.

Society is afraid of alonedom. Like lonely hearts are wasting away in basements. Like people must have problems if after awhile nobody is dating them.

But lonely is a freedom that breathes easy and weightless, and lonely is healing if you make it.

You can stand swathed by groups and mobs or hands with your partner, look both further and farther in the endless quest for company.

But no one is in your head. And by the time you translate your thoughts an essence of them maybe lost or perhaps it is just kept. Perhaps in the interest of loving oneself, perhaps all those “sappy slogans” from pre-school over to high school groaning, we’re tokens for holding the lonely at bay.

Cause if you’re happy in your head, then solitude is blessed, and alone is okay.

It’s okay if no one believes like you, all experiences unique, no one has the same synapses, can’t think like you, for this be relived, keeps things interesting, life’s magic things in reach, and it doesn’t mean you aren’t connected, and the community is not present, just take the perspective you get from being one person in one head and feel the effects of it.

Take silence and respect it.

If you have an art that needs a practice, stop neglecting it, if your family doesn’t get you or a religious sect is not meant for you, don’t obsess about it.

You could be in an instant surrounded if you need it.

If your heart is bleeding, make the best of it.

There is heat in freezing, be a testament.

Coffee for Two

The amount of coffee that I'm drinking on a daily basis has reached a point where a (Starbucks) mug has been purchased to prove/mark/celebrate this coffee addiction. Fortunately, it was neither an impulse nor random purchase but one made with careful considerations over the year, even allowing myself to witness its price increase. It is evident that the mug has been put to good use so I am not complaining about my prolonged decision which eventually came with an additional fee. Coffee will not find its way into this mug for now, only brushes. But when the day comes, I'll probably let you guys know though it serves no purpose.

Anyway, the weekend is finally here so let's just embrace it together, shall we? x

Hello all, my holiday has officially ended, technically last tuesday but I am only making the announcement this morning. I had my share of fun, even though it is admittedly well below sufficient. But I am satisfied, in fact, I am easily satisfied. I have learned to be thankful for every little thing that has been given, because that's what most important. Wishing for a longer break only adds to unreality, a state which I am learning to avoid.

Spent my Friday afternoon with Shirley at USS! Anyway, my holidays are here. And according to E, it’s sixteen days in total. Which also means that it’s not exactly long to begin with, pathetic is the word to describe it. Well, at least it’s better than nothing, I guess.

I have been hanging out pretty often, and yes, my life is complete but my struggles are not over. Grades, even though they are merely used to measure our performances, they are also the sole reason that all of us are studying so hard for because unfortunately in our country, grades define our future and career paths. Poor grades lead us nowhere, unless we are born into wealth.

Sigh, when is this paper chase ever gonna end? I am tired, already. x

I know some of you will probably think, “oh boy, work has definitely got into her..” and “she’s just into this shit for a while, she’ll get over it soon” or “trust me, she’s never gonna do it”. Well, I am just saying for now, but I really, really want to lend a hand to somebody or at least, something. Maybe not animals, cos I am not an animal person but to earth, to the less fortunate, etc. I don’t want to just rot in my seat and watch the clock tick, I wanna do something. Life will be so much more fulfilling this way, don’t you think?

I have been living with short(er) hair since Sunday.

Can't think of anything interesting to update because I have been stuck at home for days with an unfinished assignment. It's the last one for the trimester, so wish me luck! x

Bun tutorial

Go on Youtube (or Google) and just search for 'hair bun tutorials' or 'messy bun tutorials' and you'll find plenty of videos on them. But here are two that I've found pretty useful; one that is really simple (here) and the other, a little more tedious but I think it looks less sloppy and closer to my updo (here).

Alternatively, I think these pictures are good enough to illustrate how to get a nice fluffy bun :)

Dinner with Stephy at Crossroads cafe at Mariott, talked till the cows came home cos we haven't seen each other for months! Oh I can't wait to explore the world with her, she is EVER, ever ready to leave this place. Just like I am. All we need to do right now is to find a common holiday and viola!

So, today I missed school again and this is intolerable, it's a hundred and thirty dollars thrown away each time I skip a lesson! I really, really hate myself for being such a slug :(

Muffins that my mom and I made over the weekend.

Wild Honey

Breakfast all day, everyday.

New set of colours.

I visited the orthodontist just five minutes ago, no make that ten. And look at the results of my teeth, new neon colours, plus jaws that are (temporary) ajar. Apparently, they inserted something to prevent my jaws from biting together so that one of my teeth can be aligned with the rest. Great, now I can’t rest my jaws, can’t exactly chew and my grin looks exceptionally awkward.

Anyway, K and I hung out a little and dined at Wild Honey yesterday. I was pleased with the food we had, European and English. The loveliest eggs benny coiled by thin slices of ham, slightly toasted brioche and just the right amount of sautéed mushrooms neatly tucked between the two layers. Mmmm doesn’t that sound fantastic? Who cares if it’s a heart attack on the plate, it’s so, so good.

The day before I was at Spruce with buddy and caught Red Riding Hood. But my brain was unfortunately half dead by the time the film started rolling so I was trying to keep my eyes open more than focusing on what’s happening in the movie. It was average because it was produced by the directors of Twilight, haha no I’m just kidding, it’s just a movie attempting another version of the tale and leaving you to guess who the wolf is throughout the show. Yup, so watch it only if you are either interested in Amanda Seyfried or a fan of Twilight and your movie expectations are of that level or both.

Alright, my assignments are hollering. I should get going, till then. x

Alli has found her way back to Melbourne and it is depressing to know that she will only be reappearing in eight months' time.
